Prescription Clerk - Part Time inDover inDover PUBLISHED 18 DEC 2023

£12.14 to £12.65 an hour  PERMANENT 

  • Process repeat medication requests, dealing with any query scripts including adding, altering and printing throughout the day.
  • Process Acute prescriptions with support from the GP and Pharmacists as and when required.
  • Expedite urgent prescriptions to help ensure a safe and responsive service for our Patients.
  • Develop and maintain an effective process to manage any prescription backlogs that may occur, escalating any issues.
  • Process hospital discharge letters in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with patients, GPs, health professionals and local Pharmacies regarding prescription and medication queries and requests ensuring timely and correct resolution.
  • Key point of contact for the Duke of York school with regards to medication and prescriptions, dealing with queries in a timely manner and attending the school where necessary in the absence of the Pharmacist.
  • Answering incoming telephone calls from chemists and patients, ensuring calls are documented and redirected accordingly during allocated time.
  • Keep up to date with medication protocols and ensure repeat medication is issued in line with these protocols.
  • Actively monitor QOF medication reviews and requirements for patients and process accordingly.
  • Assist the Pharmacists with queries and audits.
  • Liaise with care homes to ensure Dossett boxes are completed in a timely manner.
  • Raise any concerns including misuse of drugs to the GP and follow up as necessary.
  • Distribute any safety alerts that come through to the relevant recipient in a timely manner.
  • Attend clinical meetings where required.
  • Ensure up-to-date maintenance of both computerised and manual filing systems (i.e. patient notes).
  • Assist with the induction process for new starters with regards to prescriptions and the procedures & protocols.

This role is part time working 12 hours per week.

As a Prescription Clerk, you will act as the focal point of communication between the GPs, Receptionists, Practice Manager, Pharmacies, hospitals and care homes to ensure patients repeat medication is produced within the current protocols of the practice.
