To provide specialist assessment, formulation, and treatment to adults and young people (mostly 16 years upwards) with renal conditions, on an inpatient and outpatient basis.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 8a HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist with an interest in working with adults with physical health problems to join and lead the Renal Psychology Service located at Guy's Hospital, London. The successful candidate will work alongside the Band 7 Practitioner Psychologist to deliver the systematic provision of a high quality and highly specialist Psychology Service for Renal Services. The successful candidate will support with developing pathways for psychology across the service engaging with multidisciplinary teams within and across services and directorate when appropriate. The Practitioner Psychologist will also offer psychological assessment and evidence-based treatment to patients and if appropriate families / carers presenting to the service. As a service lead position, this role would especially appeal to candidates who would like to further develop leadership skills in service developmentMain Job Duties
The post is line managed by the Head of Nursing for Transplant, Renal and Urology and will be professionally supported and supervised by a Consultant Clinical Health Psychologist within the Cancer and Surgery Clinical Group. The post holder will have key relationships with multiple professionals within the Directorate, which covers a wide geographical remit across London and the South East.
Main duties of the role are as per the Job Description but include:
- To lead and deliver a highly specialist psychology service for the psychological care of patients and carers within the Renal Service and offer an outreach service to patients at satellite units / kidney treatment centres when indicated by
- patient need.
- To provide specialist assessment, formulation, and treatment to adults and young people (mostly 16 years upwards) with renal conditions, on an inpatient and outpatient basis
- Providing support, teaching, and training to staff from other professional groups within the Directorate.
- To provide professional and clinical supervision to Band 7 Psychologist in the Renal Psychologist according to HPC/BPS and Trust Guidelines, as well as MSc Health Psychology students and undergraduate students who undertake placements within the service.
