Maternity Support Workers (MSW) act as members of the care team working under the supervision and guidance of registered midwives and other professional staff.
MSW's, assist in the planning, implementation,
evaluation and delivery of care by providing support to registered staff,
patients and their families. This will be achieved by the performance of
specific care tasks carried out after the successful completion of a
programme of formal training and assessment. The key role of the MSW
will be to provide breastfeeding support to newly delivered mothers in the
community setting.
This position is to be based at the Royal Sussex County Hospital Brighton, but some cross-site working may be required. Maternity Support Workers are to act as members of the care team working under the supervision and guidance of registered midwives and other professional staff.
