The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 or 6 Occupational Therapist to join our Therapy Team at Petersfield Community Hospital. The post holder will be providing advanced clinical and professional Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy to the Therapy Team or Community Hospital Team, and to provide support to the team leaders.


The Trust/Ward/Department

Southern Health provides a wide range of mental health, physical health and learning disability services for people across Hampshire through a team over 6,500 staff who work from over 300 sites. The Responsibilities

  • Undertake assessments of patients with diverse and complex conditions, providing a clinical diagnosis, development, and delivery of individualised treatment programmes.
  • To support the case management process by providing expert clinical advice and therapy to patients with a variety of complex conditions
  • To be skilled in assessing and treating a range of complex factors relating to the patients condition, diagnosis and prognosis
  • Negotiate and agree with the patient, carers and other care professionals, individual roles and responsibilities with actions to be taken and outcomes to be achieved, referring on to other services or professionals as appropriate.
  • Undertake comprehensive assessment of patients including those with diverse and highly complex presentations and multiple pathologies, using clinical and analytical skills to provide an accurate assessment of their condition


To be successful in applying for this role you will need:

  • Enhanced DBS
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent
  • To be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • NHS experience
  • Good communication skills
