Healthcare Assistant - General Medical Outpatients inColney inColney PUBLISHED 13 SEP 2024

The outpatient HCA role supports the smooth running of clinics in the General Medical Outpatient department, supporting doctors and specialist nurses, chaperoning patients, assisting with admin, keeping the patient environment clean, and taking various clinical measurements and samples.
We are a small, friendly department based in the medical outpatients area. We work closely with the medical teams as well as our reception and admin colleagues and have good working relationships with our colleagues in other outpatient departments.

The department shift patterns run 08:00 – 18:00 Monday, Wednesday Thursday and Friday. On a Tuesday we run an evening session where we work until 21:00. Staff are expected to take turn in the late roster, which provides nursing cover for late running clinics, or patients on transport, and may mean staying past your scheduled shift finish time. This extra work is compensated for by time off in lieu.

Successful applicants will benefit from an opportunity to work in an acute hospital setting, gaining a wide breadth of experience in different aspects of the patient’s journey, from initial diagnosis to inpatient treatment. We are looking for motivated people with a can-do attitude, to join our team. If you think you would enjoy the challenge of working in different environments, with a variety of staff and patients, this could be the role for you.

The successful applicant will be scheduled to work mainly in the outpatient clinics but at times will be required to work on medical wards.
