  • We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with experience of working with people affected by cancer to join our small team based at Arrowe Park Hospital.
  • The Macmillan Information and Support Assistant will be based “front-of-house” in the Macmillan Cancer Information Centre within the hospital to triage enquiries, provide personalised information and support about cancer services, to enable people to navigate the health and social care system and make choices that are best for their cancer and their life.
  • There will be travel across sites and potentially to community settings as part of the outreach offer and joint working with multiple stakeholders
  • The post holder will be required to work independently at times , supporting the provision of a high quality service to service users including, patients, carers, general public, staff, and health care professionals.
  • Assess and interpret the needs of individuals attending/contacting the service and respond effectively to the needs of individuals providing a professional quality service.
  • Triage individuals contacting the service face to face or by telephone/ email and work autonomously to prioritise needs.
  • Deal with difficult and highly emotive situations in a sensitive manner and base decisions on own judgement
  • Provide information and signposting to other supportive services and liaise with clinical staff to support patients and carers in distress.
