Imperial College Healthcare has two SDEC units on the St Mary’s and Charing Cross sites which are overseen by Emergency Medicine consultants working with a team of doctors and advanced clinical practitioners. The roles would suit doctors planning a career in emergency medicine or acute medicine, or who are looking to consolidate previous experience whilst considering long term options. We would welcome applications from GPs with experience in urgent care and from those seeking flexible working hours. We have posts at the equivalent of core and higher training levels and support career development by offering management time within the contracted hours.

Our units function as part of the Urgent and emergency care service and are essentially ambulatory emergency department with associated acuity and complexity. We accept patients referred from GPs on these pathways and are trailblazers in accepting patients from 111 and the London Ambulance service directly.

The Same Day Emergency Care doctor will work alongside the SDEC team to co-ordinate the assessment, investigation and appropriate clinical review for patients who are referred to the service. It is expected that the SDEC doctors will develop new pathways and work to expand and improve the service. The service runs Monday to Friday 08.00-22.00 and Saturday to Sunday 08.00 – 20.30.
