The successful applicants will work on Elephant ward as part of a team of Housekeepers, providing 7 days cover, 9am-5pm/10am-6pm.

The wards are managed by Ward Sisters, supported by a team of staff nurses who provide care to children, maintaining close links with other members of the Multidisciplinary Team including the medical team, Psychologists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Clinical Nurse Specialists.

The post holders will be responsible for the co-ordination of services provided by the Estates & Facilities Division, working closely with contractors and support service departments, and will monitor quality standards related to these services, report deficiencies and take appropriate action.

The teams are enthusiastic, motivated, friendly and deliver family centred care. The Housekeeper post is designed to help maintain a high standard of family centred care by being an integral part of a ward team providing a safe and suitable environment for the recovery of the children cared for on the unit.

The role is fundamental to the efficient, high standard care provided on the unit and is a valuable part of the large nursing team. The role will involve limited direct patient care, whilst supporting those who provide direct care.

Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust (GOSH) is an international centre of excellence in child healthcare. GOSH is an acute specialist paediatric hospital with a mission to provide world-class care to children and young people with rare, complex and difficult-to-treat conditions.

Together with our research partner, the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health, we form the UK’s only academic Biomedical Research Centre specialising in paediatrics.

Most of the children we care for are referred from other hospitals throughout the UK and overseas. There are 60 nationally recognised clinical specialities at GOSH; the UK's widest range of specialist health services for children on one site.

We believe our people are the head, the heart, the hands and the face of GOSH. Being part of our team is incredibly rewarding and you will be doing something extraordinary to the lives of the children and young people we care for.

GOSH is a challenging, complex and inspiring place to work. Each and every day our people come together to support each other to deliver excellent patient care, often working to help our patients and their families navigate through demanding processes and difficult decisions.
