A Specialist Provision in Wheatley for students with mental health difficulties are looking for an Mental Health/Wellbeing Assistant to join their team full-time, starting as soon as next week. This will involve supporting students with social, emotional and mental health needs, as well as attachment difficulties and trauma.

As a Mental Health/Wellbeing Assistant you will …

  • Play a key role in equipping the students with the emotional and social skills needed to succeed when they leave school.
  • Act as a role model to all students, setting high expectations and committing to bringing out the best in them.
  • Raise attainment of the pupils by boosting their self-esteem and emotional wellbeing.
  • Help improve barriers to learning.
  • Motivate students to stay on task & complete their work.
  • Help pupils develop their social skills, emotional regulation and foster positive relationships with peers.

The ideal Mental Health/Wellbeing Assistant will be passionate about helping young people struggling with their mental health. You will need to be resilient, open-minded and knowledgeable about mental health and development. Graduates in Psychology, Criminology or Counselling would be perfect for this position. This will provide you with the experience needed to train as a Psychologist or Therapist in the near-future, and give you a first-hand insight into the challenges young people face on a daily basis.
