The Ward Administrator role is an exciting opportunity to join our administration team, based on Walrus ward, which provides first class administration and reception services to the Heart and Lung Directorate.

Successful candidates will have previous administration experience and either experience of working in an NHS organisation or a desire to work within a healthcare organisation.

They will be able to communicate with a range of patients and colleagues and possess excellent team working, negotiation and organisation skills. Above all they will be committed to helping us deliver excellent patient care.

  • To co-ordinate and ensure smooth running of all departmental outpatient clinic
  • To provide a reception service for the Cardiorespiratory Unit and deal with enquiries both by telephone and in person ensuring efficient, courteous, and accurate advice is given and ensure professional, operationally safe area is achieved at all times
  • To provide administrative support to the Cardiorespiratory Unit including answering their telephones, taking messages etc
  • Responsible for accurate registration of all outpatients, inpatients/day cases in line with Departmental requirements
  • To ensure that the Patient/Family visit is effectively coordinated in regard to clinic location, information provision and support during visit
  • To ensure access to transport reimbursement services
  • To manage the booking process in relation to department criteria, patient, and clinician requirement
  • To be responsible for effective, accurate and timely management of the EPIC database specifically patient information, bookings/rebooking’s, DNA recording, clinical and 18-week pathway outcomes
  • To ensure that all patient documentation is completed in a timely manner
  • To record all clinical and 18-week pathway outcomes on the Patient Information System (EPIC) within 24 hours of patients’ attendance
  • To ensure that all DNA’s are managed in a timely and effective manner
