We have two exciting opportunities to join the Interventional Radiology Team at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, based at Frimley Park Hospital. One a part time fixed term for two years, the other a fulltime year fixed term contract.
Interventional Radiology (IR) is an ever expanding speciality offering the newest most up to date technologies within modern medicine. IR procedures are less invasive than conventional treatments as most procedures can be done through small incisions. Patients are often able avoid general anaesthetic as the majority of procedures can be performed with a combination of local anaesthetic, and conscious sedation. This can provided by an adequately trained nurse or ODP.
The department consists of three theatre specification IR suites, where patients undergo their minimally invasive sterile procedures both electively and in an emergency. We are uniquely placed with a variety of work across various specialty areas. Interventional Radiology provides an extensive service, including Endovascular Aneurysm Repairs/FEVARs & embolisations. CT guided biospy's and ablations. Plus diagnostic, ultrasound, biopsy's & cardiac angio's.The role of an IR Practitioner requires a range of skills from pre-assessment, perioperative care (scrub and circulating), and post anaesthetic care following the procedure. Conscious sedation is provided, following adequate training to keep the patient's comfortable & relaxed during the procedure. Those with no experience in this area will be provided with training, competences & support.
