Ward 14 is a 37 bedded surgical unit caring for Elective and non elective patients. Ward 14 is an extremely fast based ward with a fast turn over of patients.

If successful for the post the new post holder must be able to work autonomously and at a very fast pace.

This vacancy is being advertised as an apprenticeship and as such the salary for the role if reflective of this. Those who currently hold and can evidence the essential qualifications need not apply. Your application will not be shortlisted if you hold the essential qualification(s).

Although English and Maths at level 2 is not required for the role, it is a requirement to complete the apprenticeship and need to be in place by the end of the apprenticeship. If you do not hold or cannot evidence English and Maths at level 2 then support will be provided for the successful applicant(s) as part of the Trust's apprenticeship offer.

Whilst this role is being advertised as a permanent position, there is an expectation that the successful applicant must complete all elements of the apprenticeship. Initially, the successful applicant will be placed on a fixed term apprenticeship contract for the duration of the programme. Upon completion of the apprenticeship and providing all additional milestones are met, the successful applicant will be issued a permanent contract.

  • To check demographic details are correct on admission and discharge.
  • To arrange transport for patients attending other hospitals/departments.
  • To answer the telephone, taking messages or transferring calls as appropriate.
  • To co-ordinate outpatient appointments with clinic clerk prior to discharge.
  • To prepare any discharged patients paperwork for scanning
  • To provide support to nursing staff for general patient requests
  • Liaise with Informatics regarding electronic equipment
  • To check demographic details are correct on admission and discharge.
  • To arrange transport for patients attending other hospitals/departments.
  • To answer the telephone, taking messages or transferring calls as appropriate.
  • To book outpatient appointments prior to patient discharge.
  • To prepare any discharged patients paperwork for scanning.
  • To provide support to nursing staff for general patient requests.
  • Liaise with Informatics regarding electronic equipment.
  • To update criteria to reside information for all patients' daily.
  • provide admission inpatient information leaflets for patients
  • assist with completion of friends and family questionnaires
  • complete curtesy follow up call for discharged elective patients
  • ordering of stationary products on oracle
