An exciting secondment/fixed term opportunity to join a team of Nursing and AHP educators within the Trust as a Cancer Clinical Educator. Working directly with the Lead Cancer Nurse and Nursing Midwifery and Allied Health Professions Education Lead.
The post holder will support with the development of the Aspirant Cancer Career and development of the Cancer Education Programme. This will involve the development of an education framework and Core Cancer Capabilities in Practice.
The post holder will ensure the Accend programme complements existing education programmes to provide an evidence-based education portfolio for the Trust.
They will guide health care staff development and acquisition of knowledge and skills to support the cancer patient across all areas of care.
The post holder will act as a clinical and professional role model to maintain and develop exceptional standards of clinical care. Working alongside other specialities and professional groups; there will be an expectation to promote and foster a culture of education and clinical development within the workforce.
The post holder will demonstrate the knowledge and skills of a competent cancer practitioner and will:
Lead on the delivery of inter-professional education to ensure staff proficiency in the care of the cancer patient across the whole cancer and oncology pathway
Organise, develop and lead the delivery of clinical training programmes to meet the learning needs of the clinical workforce
Support with the development of the Aspirant Cancer Career and Education Development Programme (Accend) and roll out across the Trust
Maintain and develop clinical expertise to act as an expert resource to colleagues by guiding practice development and education delivery
Work clinically with staff in the wards and departments to improve their assessment and management of cancer patients
Work collaboratively with the Lead Cancer Nurse and Clinical Educators to deliver inter-professional point of care teaching programmes to enhance patient care to all disciplines of healthcare staff.
The post holder will promote a proactive approach to education, learning and maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice at South Tees NHS Hospitals trust.
