To facilitate and co-ordinate the implementation of the Pathology Quality Management System (QMS) for the benefit of users of the service and its staff.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and suitably qualified Cytology senior biomedical scientist with expertise of working in a busy cervical screening laboratory to join our UKAS accredited Department based at St Peters Hospital in Chertsey as a quality officer.
We are looking for someone motivated, keen to learn and develop new skills, who has a flexible approach to work and is able to work under pressure. The successful candidate will be working in an HPV primary screening department that also provides Non Gynae, Andrology and semen Cryopreservation services.
Experience of both checking abnormal cervical Cytology cases and fertility testing would be advantageous but not essential for this post, as full training can be given.
Working hours will be during core laboratory hours of Monday to Friday 07:00 to 19.00, although there is some flexibility within this.

- Primary screening, rapid review and checking of triage (HPV +ve) cervical cytology slides.
- Supervising and training all grades of staff within the cervical screening team.

- Participation (rota) in the supervision of the Non Gynae Cytology preparation laboratory.
- Performing staff appraisals and developing personal development plans.
- Participation in the Andrology testing service (Fertility and post vasectomy) on several BSPS network sites.
