Band 8a: £59,490 to £66,239 a year per annum inclusive of HCAS  PERMANENT 
Ensure that risk and and incident reporting is completed, kept up to date and investigated as required.

The post holder will be expected to lead discussions in service development and strategic planning and assisting with integrated care pathways in the local community. This may include acting as a local education and quality control resource for community services and satellite units.

  • Planning the future needs of Respiratory services at Royal Free and the CDC (Finchley memorial Hospital).
  • Work towards IQIPS accreditation
  • Ensure that service delivery is managed appropriately in line with trust policies
  • Ensure optimum use of financial resources in the delivery of diagnosis and care.
  • Participate in the Quality and Business Meetings as required
  • Ensure all the Infection Control standards are complied with.

  • To be responsible for a high quality specialist clinical service, monitoring performance and standards, staff training and development, and for achieving set targets.
  • To be responsible for the pay and non-pay physiologist related spend of the financial budgets.
  • To be Information Asset Owner for the department

The successful candidate will predominantly be based at the Royal Free Hospital site but will lead and manage the team across all of the hospital sites, and will need to be flexible and travel across the different sites as and when required.

We are looking for a committed, dynamic and enthusiastic individual to lead our Respiratory team at Royal Free Hospital. The role requires extensive experience at Band 7 level in order to provide clinical expertise at an expert specialist level in Respiratory diagnostics.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead in the delivery and development of a high quality diagnostic respiratory physiology service, providing expert professional and clinical leadership, while working as part of an innovative, dynamic and patient focused team based in a bright and modern setting.

The department of respiratory medicine has several specialty clinics the lung function service supports, including sleep and ventilation, severe asthma, complex COPD and TB which are led with a strong MDT ethos. Additionally the service provides diagnostic investigations to a range of other highly specialist services such as Rheumatology, Pulmonary Hypertension and Immunology services.

We are looking forward to working with an experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated Respiratory Physiologist with a high level of demonstrable technical ability, clinical understanding and leadership skills to join and lead our Lung Function team.

The successful candidate will be carry out and interpret a broad range of respiratory and sleep investigations which currently include:

  • Full lung function testing
  • Respiratory muscle assessment
  • Capillary blood gases
  • Bronchial provocation using Mannitol
  • Sleep studies.
  • Hypoxic challenge tests

The department aspires to gain accreditation against the IQIPS standards, and the post holder would be supported to realise these objectives as part of their wider vision for the service.

The post holder will be a registered Clinical Scientist or will hold appropriate professional body and RCCP registration whilst working towards this.
