Band Consultant: £105,504 to £139,882 a year per annum, pro-rata  PERMANENT 
The appointee will be expected to undertake dental treatment as required, with or without sedation and general anaesthesia.

The post is that of Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry (1.0WTE) permanent based at Liverpool University Dental Hospital hosted by Liverpool University Dental Hospital, Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder is expected to have a high level of knowledge and expertise in the field of Paediatric Dentistry and should have an innovative approach to patient care, teaching, management and leadership.

The appointee will be engaged in teaching and training of dental core trainees, specialty registrars and post-CCST trainees.

The post holder will help to foster good relationships between the Dental Hospital and General Dental Practitioners, Community Dental Services and other health care providers.

The post holder will be expected to conduct new patient and treatment activity and provide consultant cover as and when necessary.

The Paediatric Dentistry department is responsible for delivering secondary and tertiary specialist paediatric dentistry services. Our clinical space consists of 20 dental chairs and 5 side surgeries.

The appointee will be expected to undertake dental treatment as required, with or without sedation and general anaesthesia. Inhalation sedation and intravenous sedation is undertaken within the department. Comprehensive care and exodontia under GA are provided on site.

There is a close working relationship with other dental specialties within the Dental Hospital.

There are currently six consultants/honorary consultants in Paediatric Dentistry with strong links to the Dental Department at Alder Hey Children's Hospital and with medical and surgical specialties.

The post holder will be expected to conduct new patient and treatment activity and provide consultant cover as and when necessary.

The appointee will be engaged in teaching and training of dental core trainees, specialty registrars and post-CCST trainees.

The post-holder will be expected to participate in continuing dental education meetings and in quality improvement projects and is expected to work within the Trusts' Governance frameworks.
