The successful candidate will have shared office space in Corby Resource Centreand will have access to a computer and IT links. Secretarial cover will be provided by the Consultants secretary.The caseload for this post is circa 75. A typical working week is likely to include out-patient clinics, team meetings, liaison with other professionals including UCAT, clinicaladministration, domiciliary visits to patient homes, care homes and Mental Health Act work in community.

The Old Age Psychiatry Service has recently undergone some service redesign, and is age-related, needs led and comprehensive. The county is divided into North and South catchment areas. Each catchment area is subsequently divided into 2 community sectors and In-patients areas. There are 3 whole-time equivalent (WTE) Old Age consultants in the South of the County and similarly 3 WTE consultants in the North. Each of the community sectors is clinically led by one community-based consultant responsible for the multidisciplinary Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) and Memory Assessment Service (MAS). Each community consultant is supported by a WTE SAS Doctor. There is one inpatient consultant responsible for inpatient admissions for each of the two sectors of the North and South catchment areas. There are 2 old age Liaison consultants, one covering Kettering General hospital and the other Northampton General Hospital. The liaison consultants also support admission avoidance in collaboration with the county's ICT and urgent care and assessment teams (UCAT).
