Medicine for the Elderly department have an exciting opportunity for a Receptionist / Typist. The Department forms part of Local Services at Southend Hospital NHS Trust providing an Outpatient Service and Ward Based Care.

You will provide an efficient and effective administrative service and will be required to work as part of a team, have a flexible and professional attitude to work and provide cross cover during periods of absence.
You will work closely with the department's secretaries, reception, and clerical staff to provide a flexible and reliable administration service to the Medicine for the Elderly and Stroke teams.
Support the Medical Specialties Admin Team to set up, review and adjust clinics in liaison with appropriate clinicians to ensure they meet the demands and expectations of patients and other stakeholders.
Support the Medical Specialties Admin Team, Divisional Managers and Clinicians in coordinating clinic capacity including liaising with patients etc. in relation to clinic cancellations and re-bookings.
Receive and respond or escalate telephone enquiries from patients, carers and external agencies in relation to hospital admissions, appointments and general enquiries as appropriate.
Receive and process incoming correspondence, paper and electronic, ensuring it reaches the appropriate place within the required deadlines.
