Job summaryWard 44 are looking for a dedicated Senior Healthcare Support worker to join their busy respiratory ward at King's Mill Hospital.
Ward 44 consists of 24 beds made up of 3 bays and 12 en suite rooms! You will work alongside an established and excellent Multi-Disciplinary team to provide patient centred care.
We pride ourselves on our team work here on ward 44 and are looking forward to welcoming an additional Senior Healthcare Support worker into our team. The applicant should be enthusiastic, hard working and adaptive to change. We aspire to improve the ward and have opportunities to get involved in these changes along with our ward 44 shared governance council.
Main duties of the job- Carry out specific clinical support tasks as designated by the registered nurses, e.g. phlebotomy, ECG recording, cannulation and catheterisation.
- Under guidance from registered nurses, perform basic wound care.
- Demonstrate a courteous and helpful approach to patients, relatives and visitors to the ward supporting other team members to create an environment that is motivating, stimulating and supportive.
- Keep clinical areas clean and tidy, to maintain a safe and pleasant environment and contribute to the control of infection in clinical work areas.
- Carry out assigned clerical tasks as directed. i.e. admitting and discharging form Care flow and booking patient transport.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient information, and maintain principles of Information Governance.
- Adhere to the ward procedures for the correct use of equipment and assist in maintenance of equipment as directed.
- Be aware of and adhere to Trust policies and procedures as appropriate, as identified by the Ward Leader and qualified members of staff. Safeguard yourself and others working within Trust policies when handling dangerous and hazardous materials.
- Participate fully as a team member, sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues to promote a cohesive ward/department team and the achievement of team objectives. Support student nurses and new HCSW's to achieve set objectives.

Person Specification Qualifications Academic/ Craft/ Professional Essential - NVQ 3 in care or willingness to work towards
- Educated to a good standard of general education equivalent to GCSE Maths & English level C or above
- Care Certificate or commitment to achieving within 2 weeks of commencement
