Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide good quality personalised care in accordance with agreed local and national standards
  • Take observations from patients
  • Undertake clinical duties relevant to clinical area following achievement of competencies
  • Assist to maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Assist in maintaining standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care
  • Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting and meeting the needs and choices of individuals
  • Contribute to maintaining safe, clean, and productive care environment, compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Maintain and develop own competence
  • Actively try to resolve issues and complaints at local level and then report the outcome to line manager.
  • undertake any training/skills deemed appropriate

**Candidates shortlisted for interview must provide original certificates for both Maths & English (GCSE grade C or above OR Functional Skills Level 2) and have an NVQ Level 2 in Health or equivalent. If you currently work within LTHTR as a band 2 healthcare assistant and have 12 months minimum experience as well as GCSE maths and English (or equivalent) then you are welcome to apply.

Essential criteria

  • GCSE Maths & English grade C or above / Grade 4 - 9 OR Functional/Key skills level 2 numeracy and Functional/Key Skills level 2 literacy
  • BNCS or NVQ (to include work-based assessments) / Internal Level 2 training programme
  • Must be willing to undertake and complete Trust internal Level 3 training programme course asap

Desirable criteria

  • Level 3 QCF diploma (Qualification Credit Framework) in healthcare / NVQ (to include work-based assessments) level 3

Knowledge and Experience

  • Previous experience of working in an acute health care or related setting
  • Understanding of health and safety issues within healthcare
  • Understanding of concept and application of confidentiality
  • Understanding of the role of a senior HCA
  • Working with LTHTR trust as a band 2 HCA and have minimum 12 months of experience. Must be willing to undertake and complete Trust internal Level 3 training programme course asap.
