Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead a team of clinical pharmacists and technicians at Chase Farm Hospital. You will work collaboratively with the clinical services pharmacists at the other sites with the aim of developing patient and staff experience. The post holder will successfully meet set competencies designed to develop the qualities, skills and knowledge expected to move to a Band 8a. Length of competency training will be dependant on what qualification/ experience the staff member has achieved already but the following would be expected to be met within 3 - 18 months:

o Completion of Clinical Diploma or equivalent

o Complete the Trusts Essential Leadership Modules (ELM) or equivalent

o Conduct a service development

o Formally line manage with evidence of objective setting and appraisal

o Evidence of teaching

Main duties of the job

The Senior Pharmacist, Clinical Services assists the Clinical Lead Pharmacist - Chase Farm Hospital in managing and coordinating the clinical pharmacy services at the Chase Farm Site. This includes the responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day provision of ward pharmacy services, including allocation of staff and provision of cover in the event of sickness. Other duties include:
  • Leading on the training and induction of clinical pharmacy staff, ensuring they are adequately trained and supported to carry out their duties
  • Deputising for the Clinical Lead Pharmacist in his/her absence
  • Collaborating with other senior staff to ensure the delivery of an integrated pharmacy service, assisting with the implementation strategic plans for the development of the Chase Farm site.
