To actively support the sister/charge nurse, assisting in the safe, effective and efficient management of the ward/department and deputizing in their absence.To assume responsibility for undertaking tasks delegated by the sister/charge nurse including mentoring roles, auditing and clinical governance. To promote a ward/department environment that is conducive to learning, supporting and participating in the supervision/teaching of the more junior and/or new staff, both nursing and other members of the multidisciplinary team
