Alongside the Inclusion Thurrock, Clinical Lead, this post holder is responsible for the provision of therapy within the Inclusion Thurrock, Psychological Therapy Service.

  • Provide a clinical psychology service for patients with moderate to severe mental health issues within the community mental health pathway, including psychological assessments, formulation, and delivery of evidence-based therapies for individuals and groups.
  • Develop and implement personalised treatment plans, applying a range of psychological interventions based on best practice guidelines and maintaining high standards of clinical judgement.
  • Maintain accurate patient records using IAPTus and prepare comprehensive reports for multidisciplinary teams and external agencies.
  • Lead the psychological services in the designated area, managing resources effectively, and ensuring the team operates efficiently. Oversee service delivery, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing strategic changes.
  • Line manage senior staff, including supervising psychology trainees, assistant psychologists, and other team members, ensuring high-quality clinical practice through regular supervision, training, and professional development.
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide guidance on risk management, ensuring patient and staff safety.

This role involves working in both office-based and remote settings, and may occasionally require travel or work in challenging environments.

We are seeking a dedicated professional to lead our award-winning, innovative Psychological Therapies Service, providing evidence-based treatment for individuals experiencing serious mental health problems who often find themselves caught in the gap between primary and secondary care services.

About You:You will be an experienced Clinical Psychologist with a strong background in delivering psychological therapy within primary care settings. Ideally, you are an accredited CBT therapist, qualified to deliver EMDR, although we are open to considering expertise in other modalities. A working knowledge of NHS Talking Therapies and NICE-recommended treatment protocols for Serious Mental Health Problems (SMHP) is essential.

Your leadership skills will be key as you guide and support our team. Experience in line managing staff is beneficial, as is the ability to innovate and lead service development.

You will ensure the systematic provision of a high quality specialist psychological therapy service to clients of the service team. To supervise and support the psychological assessment and therapy provided by other psychological therapists and other clinical members of the team who provide evidence based care and treatment. You will work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service/team.
