Adult Practitioner Psychologist inLondon inLondon PUBLISHED 19 SEP 2024

An exciting opportunity has arisen within London’s world class Major Trauma System for a Band 7 Practitioner Psychologist who will support the delivery and operationalisation of an integrated model of physical and psychological care for victims of trauma at the Royal London Hospital. The post holder will also work with counterparts in other Major Trauma Centres to ensure there is an equitable system across London, including during and post major incident. The project is funded for two years, and this post is fixed term for a period of 12 months.

The focus will be on the implementation and maintenance of this new integrated model within the trust, putting patients at the heart of this transformation, but also working in collaboration with similar roles across the London system to establish good lines of communication and system wide governance. Ongoing evidence gathering and evaluation will be key to enable discussion with local and national commissioners around the benefits of long term and wider implementation.

  • Providing specialist psychology input to the planning, development and delivery of the RLH MTC pathway, with a focus on over eighteen-year-olds.
  • Providing specialist psychology input supporting after-trauma care across the pathway, from the ward and into the community, both directly and indirectly, through staff and carer consultation.
  • Teaching and training of nursing and other multi-disciplinary colleagues on psychological and/or neuropsychological theory and practice, as required.
  • Implementing the published guidance for major trauma, to maximise an embedded approach to team working, and other service delivery, based upon the evidence base and NHS guidelines.
  • Providing clinical supervision to assistant psychologists, as required.
