Job summaryAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Nurse Specialist Post within The CAMHS Feeding and Eating Disorders Team at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Recruitment is open to a band 7 with the requisite skills and knowledge. All registered nurses with the relevant skills, knowledge and experience are encouraged to apply.
The Multi-Disciplinary Team is made up of highly experienced; Nurses, Psychiatrist, Psychologists, Psychotherapist, Dieticians, Occupational Therapist and Family Therapist.
The candidate will require a good level of experience of working with patients with an Eating/Feeding Disorders within a ward or community setting and will work autonomously within a committed and skilled team.
They will be an effective communicator and will be involved in the assessment & treatment of patients and families and the ongoing development of the service.
Main duties of the job- To provide information, clinical advice and support to children experiencing feeding or eating or eating care.
- To be an, knowledgeable and visible practitioner within the service ensuring the provision of high quality evidence-based nursing care for the children and their families.
- Liaise with clinical, non-clinical and facilities staff in order to maintain a safe, friendly, and welcoming environment for the children, families, visitors and staff.
- To act as an advocate for the child and family ensuring the provision of appropriate information and support services.
- Liaise with other agencies including Primary Care Teams, schools, social services, CAMHS and local Paediatricians as appropriate.
- Ensure that each child within their caseload has a named lead clinician and designated care coordinator to coordinate their care and ensure a smooth ongoing journey through effective admissionand discharge planning throughout the patient journey.
- Ensure effective communication between all members of the multidisciplinary team both internally and externally to the Trust, other hospital departments, relatives and visitors.
- In conjunction with the Head of Nursing, and Service Lead; set, develop and monitor clinical and non clinical performance standards, taking action as required.
- Develop and maintain the clinical skills and knowledge necessary to fulfill the requirements of the role.
