An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to join our team in the Outpatients Department at Queen Margaret Hospital.

The Outpatient Department consists of five different clinical areas, which house multiple different specialities on a session-to-session/day-to-day basis. We see upward of 250 patients per day and are required to support our clinicians with pre appointment checks, chaperoning and assisting with invasive procedures when required.

You are required to have good communication skills, good IT skills, be flexible and adaptable and have the ability to work well within a team whilst using your own initiative.

Working within the team to provide a positive experience for patients attending the department.

This is a 27 hour post, all shift patterns will be to meet the needs of the service. This post is based in the Queen Margaret Hospital; however you must be committed to provide flexibility to work across both acute sites


If successful in your application, you will be offered the opportunity to undertake an SVQ2 or SVQ3 (dependent on band) in Health and Social Care, approximately 9 months after taking up post. It is expected that you complete this qualification, which will be fully funded by NHS Fife. Your Line Manager will provide you with more information once you are in post.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
