Imperial Vascular Unit is looking for a pro-active and highly motivated senior nurse, with experience in vascular nursing, who is interested in joining our Vascular Nurse Specialist team. The role encompasses autonomous clinical patient reviews within our nurse-led clinics, and co-ordination of patient focused pathways to ensure appropriate and timely patient management.

The Vascular Nurse Specialist expertise and service is essential to the Units delivery of a high quality, evidence-based and efficient service, producing a great patient experience.

We are seeking innovative and dynamic senior nurses who are interested in making a difference to the care of patients with vascular disease. Experience of caring for patients with vascular disease is essential, and experience or an interest in change management and quality improvement would be an advantage.

  • To take responsibility for and advise on the co-ordination of the patients care within a vascular disease specific pathway, acting as the Vascular Nurse Specialist contact for the patient/client and their relatives/carers.
  • To establish and maintain effective communication pathways within the vascular nursing and medical teams, the MDT, associated Primary Care Teams, and Tertiary referral Hospital Teams.
  • Provide specialist vascular nursing advice to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients/clients with vascular disease and their relatives/carers without supervision in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team in line with local and national targets.
  • The post holder will provide specialist vascular nursing care and support and deputise for their line manager in the management of their clinical speciality. This will involve dealing with complex situations and having to take appropriate action in a variety of settings.
  • To be flexible in the approach to the vascular clinical areas across the Trust and to provide cover for any area specified acting as professional role model providing direct and indirect clinical care, teaching and research
