We are seeking an Environmental Health Officer to join the dedicated team at Belfast City Council. As an Environmental Health Officer, you will play a vital role in improving the health and quality of life of our community members by efficiently and effectively delivering specific work activities allocated to you. Under the guidance of a Senior Environmental Health Officer, you will contribute to the achievement of our service objectives and unit business plans.
Your Duties:
- Carry out enforcement, investigative, educational, and advisory duties related to assigned areas of work.
- Actively participate in a structured development program to enhance professional experience and competence.
- Liaise with various organisations to enhance service objectives.
- Undertake project work as directed.
- Organise daily work demands to achieve agreed targets and deliver a customer-focused environmental health service.
- Provide reports, records, and statistical information as required.
- Stay informed of new developments within your assigned area through continuous professional development.
- Make suggestions for improving work practices and services.
- Participate in training activities and recruitment processes.
- Occasionally work outside normal hours and provide cover for out-of-hours services as directed.
- Enhance and protect the reputation and public profile of Belfast City Council.
- Undertake other relevant duties as required.
Your Profile:
Qualifications:
- At least one year's relevant experience as an Environmental Health Officer.
- Qualified Environmental Health Officer with a Certificate of Registration of the Environmental Health Officers' Registration Board or equivalent qualification.
- Possession of a full, current driving license and access to a car for official business.
Special Skills and Attributes:
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Good understanding of environmental health issues.
- Ability to manage and prioritise workload independently.
- Effective team working skills.
- Sound decision-making abilities.
- Customer care orientation.
- Proficiency in using standard office programs and packages.
Your Benefits:
- £17.53 per hour.
- Pension Contribution.

- Full time, Temporary.
- 9AM-5PM, Monday-Friday.
