Job summaryYou will work with the Specialist Midwife for Public Health and other team members to promote the general health and wellbeing of service users and their families accessing maternity care at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Trust by offering healthy lifestyle advice and support during pregnancy and the postnatal period.
As well as offering advice and support with healthy lifestyles including, nutrition, exercise, vaccinations, baby care and safer sleeping for new-borns the post holder will be key to implementing individualised stop smoking support to women and families in a flexible and innovative way. Providing intermediate stop smoking support throughout pregnancy and the post-natal period, using the support of interventions such as carbon monoxide monitoring and Nicotine Replacement Therapy. This also includes undertaking delivery of the Smokefree pregnancy incentive scheme with those women and families who meet the criteria, along with administration of the smokefree pregnancy data collection and collation.
This post contributes to tackling inequalities in health through promoting and supporting families. It focuses on engaging with families in communities by offering them practical support to change their behaviour to achieving their own choices and goals. This will involve working in both hospital and community settings with minimal, indirect supervision, operating within the assessed level of competence and being accountable for all aspects of own work.
