POA offers a friendly, professional, and dynamic work environment, with a culture of strong teamwork and supporting each other. The service covers a wide variety of surgical specialties for both day case and in-patient admission pathways. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team both within the department and beyond.
At the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital we have a team consisting of approximately 30 nurses and plan to run up to 12 nurse clinics per day supported by our HCA team. This may involve some off site working in potential satellite clinics. In addition, our HCA team support 2 onsite anaesthetic clinics and run an independent HCA clinic with the support of the nurse co-ordinator.
The main objective of this post is to assist in the assessment process of the surgical patient in their preparation for admission for both Day case and Inpatient surgical procedures.
As part of the POA team there is an opportunity to work with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure every individual has the best possible start to their surgical journey ensuring every individual is treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.
The unit embraces the opportunity for staff development, and the individual will gain knowledge and skills in enhanced practices such as venepuncture, ECG monitoring, blood glucose monitoring, urinalysis monitoring, the use of a variety of trust IT systems, learn about clinical measurement parameters and the use of the NEWS 2 scoring system.
Staff will work collaboratively within the team, both independently and with direct supervision from others. They will work closely with the requirements of Trust and Departmental policies and procedures to ensure that patients receive the care as required.
We support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, and all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH’s ‘PRIDE’ values of People focused, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence and demonstrate behaviours that support and encourage an inclusive culture.
