Job summaryJunior Clinical Fellow in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 Full time Junior Clinical Fellow posts (ST 1-2 level) based at St Michael's Hospital, University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust.
The posts are 6 month fixed term contracts to commence on 7th August 2024
St Michael's Hospital is a large teaching hospital closely linked with the University of Bristol. The post is ideal for candidates who wish to develop their experience and training in the specialty. There is no regular out of hours commitment but there will be occasional ad-hoc on-call shifts as 1st on call available in both Obstetrics and Gynaecology to support development in emergency and out of hours care.
Annual leave and study leave are covered prospectively. As a valued member of the team you will be included in the educational and training activities of the unit and encouraged to contribute to the teaching of nurses, midwives and medical students.

Main duties of the jobThe post-holder will work within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology service at St Michael's Hospital Bristol, fully supported by the clinical team. The post will be an equivalent of ST1-2 level, and is ideal for candidates who wish to develop their experience and training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Whilst the post is not recognised for training purposes, the clinical duties and experience will be identical to those within the speciality training programme. The appointed doctor will not have a regular on-call commitment but there will be occasional ad-hoc oncall shifts available for experience of out of hours emergency care.
Clinical duties will include but not limited to:o Assessment and care of gynaecology inpatients and emergency admissionso Assessment and care of maternity inpatients and emergency admissionso Theatre sessions as first assistant, opportunity to develop basic Obstetric and Gynaecological procedures (eg. Perineal repair, surgical management of miscarriage)o Elective caesarean section listso Acute obstetrics and management of central delivery suiteo The post holder will be expected to undertake audit and will join in the education programme of the departmento Contributing to the on-call rota (1st on call) through occasional ad-hoc oncall shifts as needed and according to individuals availability
