We are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist or physiotherapist to work within our growing Multi-disciplinary Hand Therapy department at Bart’s Health NHS Trust. You will

be based at the Royal London Hospital, providing clinical expertise for a caseload of hand therapy patients from multiple referral routes. There will be close working with our plastic surgery and orthopaedic colleagues within MDT clinics and on service development projects within the team. In particular the role involves making hand therapy provision to patients on the day of their surgery to support the Day Zero Hand Therapy Pathway

You will be joining a large and diverse MSK team that spans across the whole MSK pathway. You will be working within the Royal London Hospital Hand Therapy department. You will lead service development and review, ensuring the service is able to provide safe, high quality, evidence based, and holistic management of hand therapy patients.

You will be required to work shifts over Monday - Friday, 08:00-16:00 or 10:00-18:00 to support the provision of the Day Zero Hand Therapy Pathway

This is supported with a mix of development pathways such as internal and external training, development and networking opportunities, Quality Improvement training and the opportunity to participate in post-graduate HEI courses

To provide client centered occupational therapy or physiotherapy for clients referred to the Hand Therapy Service. The service accepts referrals for clients who have hand or upper limb dysfunction due to injury or illness, particularly in the areas of trauma, plastic and orthopaedics and acquired conditions rheumatology and GP referrals, and some neurology. This highly specialised service is provided to clients mainly in a hospital setting but may have a community focus. The service adopts a holistic approach offering assessment and treatment to reduce disability and the impact of the disability arising from physical illness and injury. The service also provides advice and education, precautionary measures and highly specialist treatments e.g. splinting. This is done in accordance with the priorities of the client and, where applicable, his/her carer.

The post holder also has the opportunity to provide a service to other clients referred direct from the community.
