The Haringey Psychosis Psychological Therapies Pathway is part of the wider Haringey Adult Psychological Therapies Service.
We have been working together in a Partnership between Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust and Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust for some time, with a single Chair and Chief Executive since 2021 and single Executive Team since 2022. We launched our North London Mental Health Partnership Strategy in May 2023 and in July 2023 our Boards agreed that coming together to create one new Trust is best for our service users, our staff and our local communities. Subject to final approvals, we will be formally established as one new Trust on 1 October 2024.

Job overview


We are looking to recruit an energetic and enterprising Clinical/ Counselling Psychologist or Psychotherapist/Systemic Family Therapist (with a core mental health qualification) to work in the Haringey Psychosis Psychological Therapies Pathway. The post will be split across the Haringey East Locality Team (0.6 wte) and the Wellbeing & Recovery Team ( 0.4 wte). The Haringey Psychosis Psychological Therapies Pathway is an innovative and supportive team of psychologists, psychotherapists and systemic family therapists delivering psychological therapies to people with a primary diagnosis of psychosis within a range of adult community mental health teams in the borough.


Main duties of the job


The main duties of the post are to provide specialist psychological assessment and treatment of service users within the Psychosis Pathway; to support the Pathway Lead in ensuring the effective functioning of the Psychosis Pathway and the provision of specialist clinical supervision arrangements for colleagues as required; to maintain a clinical role within the East Locality and Wellbeing & Recovery teams, formulating and implementing appropriate treatment plans within the clinical model of the service; to liaise with other professionals to contribute to the establishment of continuity of care across the services; to offer specialist clinical supervision to colleagues as well as expert advice and teaching to other professionals; to work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.

The Haringey Psychosis Psychological Therapies Pathway is part of the wider Haringey Adult Psychological Therapies Service. There are several specialist services and highly experienced supervisors within this service and there will be opportunities for the successful applicant to develop their skills in working with other client groups and models according to their interest, such as cPTSD, PD, CAT, Psychoanalytic, Group Analytic, Open Dialogue, Systemic Group Supervision and CBT. Psychological Therapists have access to CPD opportunities both within and outside of the Trust.

In order to meet the needs of the new Partnership services you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work.

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE



Essential criteria

  • Experience of specialist psychological therapy assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
  • Multi-disciplinary team working and involvement in developing Risk management plans and supporting care of service users.
  • Experience of working as a fully integrated MD team member.
  • Completion of at least two years postqualification supervised clinical experience with the related client group

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of developing therapeutic approaches and treatment programmes in response to patient need.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES



Essential criteria

  • An ability to formulate and provide treatment within one main psychological model and the experience and knowledge of at least two other approaches to psychological intervention.
  • Skills in psychological assessment, intervention and management, frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
  • An ability to use and demonstrate psychological model based formulations as part of clinical and care management planning
