Are you interested in working in a busy and challenging Operating Theatre department? We would love you to come and join our fantastic Theatre Team at Milton Keynes University NHS Hospital (MKUH).
We are recruiting for enthusiastic and motivated Health Care Assistants to join the MKUH Theatre team.
Here at MKUH we are a medium sized, level 2 trauma facility, comprising approximately 500 beds and 12 operating theatres across both elective and emergencies.
The role is to support the qualified staff in preparing equipment and the theatres to deliver safe standards of quality care for patients who require surgery. You will be supported whilst you are learning, and therefore a flexible approach is required.

At MKUHFT there are exciting opportunities to train to be part of our Surgical teams performing procedures with the use of the Versus Surgical Robot. Milton Keynes was one of the first Trusts in the country to use this innovative system that enables clinicians to perform complex procedures with reduced impact on our patients resulting in faster recovery times, less time in hospital and a reduced risk of infections in Colorectal, General Surgery and Gynaecology. We also routinely run Paediatrics Super Days, Cancer Surgery Super Days and high volume, low complexity lists for ophthalmology and orthopaedics.
This is a 37.5 hour a week full-time post covering 24 hours/7 days a week service and will therefore internal rotation between day and night shifts and on-calls. You will be given a rotation plan to ensure you maintain competencies to support your development. You need to be kind and compassionate and be a team player who learns to anticipate and be ready to work in a busy department.

Please note that this post is subject to an initial probationary period of six months, extendable up to a period of 12 months. A DBS check will be required for new employees. MKUH promotes an inclusive workforce and proactively welcomes applications from underrepresented groups in our community.
The theatres at MKGH are split into 2 suites with a total of 12 operating theatres, and a procedure room suite which undertakes both elective and emergency work. The role of the HCA is to assist the theatre team in the delivery of safe and effective care to the patient. The post holder will be expected to work competently and flexibly across all surgical specialties.
