An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic nurse to join our team on a 17 bedded surgical ward as a Band 6 temporary post to cover maternity leave. The post is a permanent contract working 30 hours per week, rotational days, nights and weekends.

The ward cares for patients with a variety of general surgical conditions, primarily HPB and colorectal, who are admitted as emergency patients, the majority of whom require surgical interventions. Experience of general surgical conditions, pre and post operative care, complex nutritional and pain management systems such as TPN, NG/NJ feeds, epidural and PCA's, rectus sheath infusions are required. You will be required to act as co-ordinator on the ward, supervising junior staff, assisting with ward rounds, carrying out patient care as well as more managerial duties such as audits, appraisals, training and managing roster changes.
