The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Catering Assistant to join our team at University Hospital Monkland. Working as part of Catering team to deliver of a range of food and beverages in line with Food Hygiene legislation and NHS Lanarkshire policies and procedures to meet the nutritional needs of Patients, Staff, and users of NHS Lanarkshire services. To work alongside and support new staff in the working environment

What we'll need you to bring

  • Knowledge of catering standards and related procedures.
  • Required to undertake on the job training and induction (this will generally take 4-6 weeks, depending on hours/days worked), to achieve full competency across a range of duties.
  • Working knowledge Health & Safety including participation in risk assessing individual tasks
  • Required to undertake Prevention, Assessment & Management of Violence of Aggression (PaMOVA) training level 1 and level 2, if identified following an appropriate risk assessment
  • Undertake NHS Lanarkshire compulsory training
  • Undertake mandatory Health Care Support Workers (HCSW) standards
  • Undertake and complete NHSS Catering Services Workbook.
  • Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to carry out assigned tasks effectively in a busy environment
  • Required to obtain the Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology

It would be great if you also have

  • SVQ or relevant qualification
  • Work experience in a catering environment
  • Knowledge of catering systems and processes i.e. HACCP; manual handling; management of aggression; infection control; COSHH; fire safety; cash handling and reconciliation
  • Remain calm when under pressure
  • Flexible attitude and willing to learn
  • Shift patterns

Contract type

  • Permanent
  • Part Time
  • 17.3 hours
  • Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.

Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in Catering Department within University Hospital Monklands

The working pattern for this role is Monday to Friday 4.pm -7.30pm
