The County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust is looking for an enthusiastic Respiratory Nurse Specialist to join its acute respiratory nursing and hospital at home service at University Hospital North Durham. The role involves providing a 7-day service for patients experiencing exacerbations of COPD, conducting patient assessments in the hospital and home settings, and managing various respiratory conditions. Responsibilities also include educating patients and carers about equipment and treatments, developing discharge plans, and contributing to outpatient clinics for nebulised antibiotics and biologic therapies for severe asthma.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including a Respiratory Nurse Consultant and other specialists, to ensure effective patient care and support. Key duties include assessing hospital patients, coordinating community care, participating in education programs for staff, and facilitating follow-up care for patients on CPAP therapy. This position offers an opportunity to play a vital role in enhancing respiratory health services within the community while promoting best practices in accordance with local and national guidelines.
