Job description
Based at Freeman Hospital with The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, this Administration Support Officer role puts you at the heart of Endoscopy Services. You will co-ordinate the endoscopy booking system, ensure patient appointments are issued promptly in line with national diagnostic waiting times, and carry out a range of clerical duties while liaising with patients and multidisciplinary teams. The post is permanent, full-time (37.5 hours/week), Band 3 (salary £24,937–£26,598) and is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check. You will work in a busy booking office alongside colleagues organising appointments for endoscopic procedures and supporting high standards of patient care across specialist services.
This role is well suited to organised, empathetic people — particularly carers and women looking for a stable, flexible NHS role where attention to detail and good communication matter. Essential skills include strong written and verbal English, accuracy, the ability to prioritise and work to deadlines, and the confidence to use Microsoft Office; experience of NHS computer systems (for example PASS) and clerical qualifications are desirable.
