Band 3: £25,329 to £26,958 a year per annum including HCAS  PERMANENT 

Ophthalmology department are looking for an efficient, organised and experienced administrator who can help support the day to day running of our busy fracture clinics.

We are looking for an individual who is organised, customer focused, adaptable and able to communicate effectively with patients, clinicians and other admin staff within the department.

The role is varied and so a flexible attitude and approach to work is a must as no two days will be the same, however some of the daily tasks will include prepping medical records, booking patients into clinic, answering telephone enquiries, audit diabetic referrals and dealing with colleagues both within Ophthalmology and across the wider trust. We need someone who will work well under pressure and approach tasks methodically and logically.

We are looking for someone who will bring a positive attitude and enthusiasm to the role as well as an individual who will have the confidence to work autonomously once trained.

To assist fracture clinic in the management of their administration tasks, helping to make the service run as efficiently and effectively as possible.

The post holder will be responsible for the administration tasks within the clinics. These tasks include, but are not limited to, inputting data and uploading referrals to data systems, making appointments with patients, sending out patient information, audit diabetic referrals, as well as general administration.

About us

1. Book/ reschedule outpatient clinic appointments on Cerner as required whilst ensuring a high level of data accuracy.

2. Rearrange patient appointments as requested by patients or staff into most appropriate slot. Maximise use of available clinic space by booking patients into cancelled slots and bringing forwards patients at short notice.

3. Ability to problem solve non complex queries whilst patients are on the telephone/at the desk such as most appropriate clinic/ clinician. Refer to team lead for more complex queries.

4. Send out discharge letters within required department time frame to referring Consultants. Send discharge letters on daily basis to GPs via electronic discharge system.

5 Be aware of process for booking patient transport and aware of process for organising collection of patients

6. Deliver high quality data from carrying out regular audits.
