Work as an Assistant Practitioner at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, based at the Great Western Hospital, Swindon SN3 6BB. This clinically focused, patient-facing role specialises in breast imaging: you will deliver screening and diagnostic mammography in the Breast Centre and on two mobile screening units that travel across Wiltshire. The post involves mammography for high‑risk screening and symptomatic two‑week‑wait clinics, assisting with ultrasound and biopsy aftercare, and independently assessing patients while working to NHSBSP and local quality standards.
This permanent, full‑time role (37.5 hours/week) is Band 4, with a salary of £27,485–£37,796 and mainly daytime hours (roughly 08:30–17:30) with some limited evenings and weekends. Ideal candidates hold relevant mammography qualifications (Level 4 Mammography Associate Apprenticeship/Qualified Associate Mammographer), NHS registration, a driving licence and daily use of a vehicle for mobile units, plus a willingness to undertake CPD, audits and departmental duties.
