We are currently seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our expanding clinical team in Harrogate. The successful candidate will support the delivery of multidisciplinary autism and/or ADHD neurodevelopmental assessments for both children and adults, in line with NICE guidelines. The role will be to support the team in undertaking face to face neurodevelopmental assessments for children and adults including assessments for ADHD, Autism and Intellectual Disability as part of a multidisciplinary team.

These role may include some or all of the following:

  • Assist in the delivery of face-to-face neurodevelopmental assessments for children and adults.

  • Participate in parental interviews, exploring developmental history using tools such as ADI-R, ACE/ACE+, and Young DIVA.

  • Support the team in conducting observations, including play-based and activity-based sessions with young people.

  • Administer cognitive assessments and the QB Test, and conduct school-based observations as required.

  • Liaise effectively with schools, professionals, parents, and young people to gather relevant information.

  • Score and interpret psychometric assessments under supervision.

  • Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and neurodevelopmental screening assessments.

  • Assist in service evaluation, data audits, and development of communication materials for families.

  • Maintain accurate clinical records using Practice Management Systems.

  • Contribute to writing neurodevelopmental screening and full assessment reports.

  • Maintain service databases and support clinical operations as needed.

About this role

We are expanding our clinical team to support with Multidisciplinary Autism and/or ADHD neurodevelopmental assessments from our clinic in Harrogate.

Applicants should have experience of working within Child and Adolescent Learning Disability and/or Mental Health Services and ideally experience of being part of a team that undertakes MDT Autism and ADHD assessments in line with N.I.C.E guidance for children as part of a and/or adult service.

The current team comprises Clinical Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, Nurse Practitioners, and Specialist CAMHS Practitioners.

Full supervision and relevant ongoing training is provided as part of this role. Salary is dependent upon skills and experience.

What youd be doing

The role involves supporting the team in conducting face-to-face neurodevelopmental assessments for children and adults, including evaluations for ADHD, autism, and learning difficulties, as part of a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities may include assisting with parental interviews to explore a young persons or clients developmental history in relation to autism, ADHD, and learning, using tools such as the ADI-R, ACE, ACE+, or Young DIVA assessments.

Additionally, the role may involve observing one-to-one play-based or activity sessions with the young person, administering the QB Test and cognitive assessments, and conducting school observations. Effective liaison with schools, professionals, parents, and young people is essential, alongside scoring and interpreting psychometric assessments.

The role also includes participation in multidisciplinary team meetings, attending neurodevelopmental screening assessments, contributing to service evaluations and data audits, and developing key service communications for parents and young people. Further responsibilities may extend to maintaining service databases and contributing to reports, including neurodevelopmental screening reports and full neurodevelopmental and cognitive assessment reports.

Essential criteria
  • BPS Accredited Degree or Postgraduate Qualification in Psychology

  • Proven track record of high-quality record keeping and report writing

  • Excellent IT skills, including good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Experience using Practice Management Systems to record clinical notes, contacts, book and outcome appointments

  • Excellent organisational and time-keeping skills and ability to meet deadlines linked to KPIs

  • Experience of working within adult or child and adolescent mental health and/or learning disability services

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with service users/families and young people in a supportive and empathic way

  • Ability to communicate effectively as part of a team and with wider professionals

  • Ability to travel to Harrogate and between locations as required by the role

  • Full UK driving licence with access to a car (you will need to travel to schools for observations)

Desirable criteria

  • Training and experience in any of the following: ADOS, ADI-R, Young DIVA, Autism and ADHD Assessments, Neurodevelopmental Assessments

  • Experience of contributing to Autism and/or ADHD assessments in children and young people/adults

  • Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary assessment team
