Job description
A funded six‑month, part‑time Assistant Psychologist opportunity with Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (Leatherhead, KT22). Five posts are available at 2.5 days per week, Band 4 salary £28,860–£31,671 pa inclusive of 5% fringe HCAS (pro rata). Funded by Health Education England, these roles are aimed at psychology graduates who hold the BPS Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership, have not undertaken substantial prior assistant‑psychologist or postgraduate psychology posts, and come from backgrounds underrepresented in the psychology workforce — including ethnic minorities, socio‑economically disadvantaged candidates, first‑generation graduates, care leavers and people with caring responsibilities.
Working under the close supervision of an HCPC‑registered Clinical Psychologist, you will support assessments and interventions, contribute to service development projects, audits and research, and develop skills in database management, SPSS, psycho‑educational group work and supervised neuropsychological assessment. The Trust provides individualised placement plans, regular mentoring and high‑quality clinical supervision, plus supportive staff networks, flexible working options, wellbeing support and development pathways — features designed to suit women and carers returning to or progressing in health roles. Posts are based across Surrey and neighbouring areas; successful applicants must attend Leatherhead for ID checks and induction, have the right to work in the UK and will require a DBS check.
