Job Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated psychology graduate to work in the Adult Community Psychological Service across South East Essex. This is an exciting post which provides an excellent opportunity to be part of a dynamic and dedicated team. The Adult Community Psychological service provides a specialist community psychology delivery into the 3 specialist mental health teams in South East Essex locality. Services are committed to enhancing the capacity to deliver psychological therapies and to utilise psychological skills within MDTs. Services have undergone influential restructuring processes to enhance the capacity to deliver psychological therapies and to utilise psychological skills within MDTs. The established Clinical Director of Psychological Services works closely with the senior management team to develop and improve delivery of psychological therapies, and to enable psychologists to develop and implement their leadership skills. This provides an environment for Psychology staff to develop their skills through high quality supervision and a supported CPD programme.
Main duties of the job
The Assistant Psychologist will work alongside qualified Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, Psychotherapists and Clinical Associates in Psychology providing an Adult Community Psychological Service to local community mental health teams. Psychologists provide direct client contact in the form of assessment and treatment, as well as providing consultation and supervision to other professionals.
The post-holder should have a passion for developing their clinical and research skills, and be keen to work flexibly and in a variety of settings. You will be expected to support qualified psychologists in the preparation and co-facilitation of group therapy programmes and the delivery of specific components of clinical treatment under close supervision. There will be a key responsibility to support the service undertake audit and research projects. There will be significant opportunity to gain experience of working in a multidisciplinary team, including liaison with allied professionals, contributing to the sharing of psychological knowledge and case discussion. Remaining time will include attending referrals meetings, participating in departmental forums and opportunities to shadow other team members. Your work will be closely supervised by an experienced psychologist and you will therefore also gain extensive experience of the supervisory process.
