- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for alcohol dependent patients with complex needs, making necessary adjustments.
- Identify patients at high risk from their alcohol use using the AUDIT assessment and take appropriate action in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Deliver evidence-based interventions, including motivational interviewing and withdrawal management, to support patients in reducing alcohol-related harm.
- Educate patients and families about healthy lifestyles and managing risks to health and well-being.
- Ensure accurate, up-to-date documentation using electronic health records and maintain compliance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
- Communicate effectively with patients, staff, and external organisations, using strategies to overcome barriers and promote continuity of care.
- Support research, audits, and quality initiatives to enhance patient care and nursing practice.
- Oversee the delivery of a 7-day alcohol care service model to ensure consistent and equitable coverage for patients across all settings.

To work as a Band 7 Alcohol Liaison Nurse in the UK, you will need a combination of clinical skills, knowledge, and personal attributes. While specific requirements can vary by NHS trust and role, the following skills and qualifications are generally essential:
Clinical Skills and Knowledge
1. Nursing Qualification: You must be a registered nurse (RN) with a valid nursing qualification and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
2. Specialist Knowledge: Strong understanding of alcohol-related conditions, including withdrawal symptoms, comorbidities, and treatment strategies. Familiarity with the latest guidelines and best practices in alcohol care.
