Job description
Band 4 Patient Pathway Navigator Oncology at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, based at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead Heath (NW3). You will provide vital administrative and patient navigation support across the oncology pathway, working closely with Medical Oncology consultants, SPR, research and clinical nurse specialists. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing correspondence and results, producing and typing urgent letters, maintaining patient demographics on Cerner, booking and processing clinic changes, answering calls and triaging enquiries, and supporting MDTs, clinics and satellite/off‑site locations. This is a frontline, patient-facing role from referral to discharge, requiring discretion, excellent written and verbal communication, meticulous organisation and an empathetic manner when guiding patients through often difficult journeys.
This role is ideal for carers, women returning to work or anyone who wants a practical, people-centred position within a leading cancer centre. It is a full‑time, fixed‑term post (18 months) on Agenda for Change Band 4, salary £33,094–£36,195 pa (inclusive of HCAS). Essential qualifications and experience include RSA 2/3 or equivalent typing/word‑processing, GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent), knowledge of medical terminology and previous experience working with patients or the public; a DBS check is required and Skilled Worker sponsorship applications will be considered.
