Trainee Senior Clinical Technologist -- Radiotherapy Engineering. Band 6 Annex 21
Salary (31,473 - 33,721), rising to Band 6 (37,338 -- 44,962) on completion of training.
An exciting development opportunity has arisen within the Radiotherapy Physics Technical Services department for an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual who is looking to develop a career in radiation engineering within the NHS.
We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate a genuine interest in engineering with a practical mind-set, who are self-motivated and can demonstrate good communications skills with an ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
The successful candidate will ideally have a BEng or BSc honours degree in Electronics or Mechanical Engineering, however applicants who possess a Level 4 qualification in a relevant subject with experience and skills equivalent to an Electronics or Mechanical engineering degree will also be considered.
The successful applicant will be required to complete the two-year IPEM Clinical Technologist Training scheme (leading to registration on the Register of Clinical Technologists), and an in-house assessment of professional abilities and performance before progressing to a Band 6 Senior Clinical Technologist position. Prior to this the post will be graded at Annex 21, Band 6.

The successful applicant will be involved in the maintenance and management of the equipment in the radiotherapy service, including linear accelerators, imaging devices and their computerised control systems. This will require the development of skills in electronic and mechanical engineering, and in computer control and management systems.
The postholder will follow the IPEM Clinical Technologist Training scheme for Radiation Engineering. The in-house training programme will be provided by our team of experienced registered radiation engineers with an expectation for the successful candidate to balance the demands of the training scheme with a requirement for independent self-study.
