Main duties of the job
To provide a professional driving service for medical personnel travelling to meet the needs of patients requiring Out Of Hours medical attention. Job responsibilities
Ensure you are fit to drive and meet all driverauthorisation requirements throughout your employment. In line with the DVLAsguidance for drivers 70 and over, Cumbria Health will require any applicant whomeets this criteria to undergo a driver medical/sight test (DVLA Standard) aspart of the recruitment process.Read and be fully aware of the content of the DriverHandbook.Maintain full responsibility for the vehicle, contents andpassengers whilst on duty.Ensure all technology is fully functioning and fully chargedat the start of shift regularly checking the items are stored safely, chargedand updated where necessary.Carry out thorough pre-shift checks, equipment checks andrestock if required.Assist in the set-up of the clinical rooms at the beginningof shift if required. You may also be required to check the rooms at the end ofshift and ensure Cumbria Health equipment has been returned to store.Drive the clinician to home visits, meeting the needs of patients in the out-of-hours period.Ensure the rules of the road are followed, utilising all available vehicle and Webfleet systems, to ensure safe driving is maintained throughout.During shift answer and make calls to the control room byvarious communication methods, always remember the legal position whilstdriving.Assist in completing patient contact forms where applicablefor control and doctor, nurse practitioner or nurse in the event of technologyfailure.Assist the clinician as and when necessary, includingassisting with equipment, chaperoning (as per policy), communications withcontrol.Alerting Emergency Services in the event of an emergency,following guidance from the clinician.Monitor the prescription pad for the vehicle following the CumbriaHealth Prescription guidance. You may also be required to assist in the toppingup and management of printer prescriptions following guidance.Assist in the transfer, countersigning and transport ofControlled Drugs.Ensure effective handover with the oncoming shift (incl.driving colleagues, clinicians and control room supervisor).Carry out post-shift checks and restock if required.Follow up Left Equipment when not required for visits.Ensure clear and concise communications with your TeamLeader are maintained through various communication methods including whereappropriate the site communications log.During shift, after consultation with the control roomSupervisor, travel and work across the County wherever and whenever needed tomeet the demands of the service.Assist the team Leader in the day-to-day management andmaintenance of the base.Regularly log onto your Cumbria Health email account andfamiliarise yourself with the Cumbria Health website (in particular the StaffSection).To carry out any other reasonable duties indepartments/locations as and when required, subject to training andcapabilities.To adhere to all CUMBRIA HEALTH Policies and Procedures.Participate and ensure own on-going development, maintainingcompliance for mandatory training.To maintain a high level of confidentiality and comply withthe Data Protection Act.
