Job description
A Bank Medical Laboratory Assistant role at Frimley Park Hospital (Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust) offers flexible bank shifts in the Pathology Specimen Reception team. This Band 2 post pays £14.75 per hour (inclusive of WTD & HCAS) and involves receiving, sorting and preparing blood and other specimens, accurately labelling samples, entering patient and sample data into the pathology computer system, and supporting general laboratory and clerical tasks in Blood Sciences. You will also handle telephone enquiries, liaise with clinical teams and external laboratories, advise on specimen collection procedures and ensure confidential handling of patient information. No formal qualifications are required, but strong typing/data‑entry skills, attention to detail, good communication and the ability to work as part of a busy team (and independently when needed) are essential; night shifts may be required and the role is not suitable for graduates seeking progression to Biomedical Scientist. A Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required.
