Job description
Bank Senior Medical Laboratory Assistant with University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust, based at the One Dorset Pathology HUB, Royal Bournemouth Hospital (Bournemouth, BH7). This Band 3, bank role (Agenda for Change) pays £24,937–£26,598 pa and involves laboratory and administrative duties in a modern, UKAS‑accredited Cellular Pathology department. You will support Biomedical Scientists with analysis of specimens using complex diagnostic procedures, undertake microtomy and assist with dissection, handle biological samples safely under established SOPs (including COSHH) and use common IT and hospital systems. The post suits someone with previous medical laboratory assistant or laboratory support experience, good literacy and numeracy (A‑levels or equivalent in science desirable), steady hand‑eye coordination and a clear eye for detail; IBMS/Pathology Support qualifications are advantageous but not essential. A Disclosure and Barring Service check is required.
