Bring your caring skills to a community-focused role in Lewisham as a Benefits and Welfare Officer / Outreach Worker. This full‑time, permanent post (paying £33,000–£36,000 per year) involves one-to-one advice and casework to help residents access and manage welfare entitlements such as Universal Credit, ESA and PIP. You will advocate with the DWP, housing benefit teams and other agencies, accompany residents to appointments, support debt management and budgeting, keep accurate records and identify safeguarding concerns. The role sits with AWD online’s local service team and requires a DBS check and confidence using Microsoft Word and case‑record systems.

This opportunity is ideal for experienced welfare advisers, support workers or carers—particularly women looking to apply empathy, advocacy and organisation to make a tangible difference. You’ll use strong communication and IT skills to empower people to stabilise finances and retain independence; knowledge of debt advice or supported housing is a plus. The vacancy is listed on jobsincare.com, a trusted hub for social care careers, and is open until 04 December 2025.
